The Russley Golf Club is part of the gateway to Christchurch’s Garden City. It’s only a few minutes to the International Airport and 10 minutes (15 if there is a traffic jam!) to Christchurch city center.
Building a new clubhouse was embarked upon in the early 1990’s and by October 1994 the vision became reality. From the new clubhouse you get a wonderful vista of the golf course as well as a warm, modern building.
A function facility hosts many seminars, conferences, birthday parties and now sees over 24 weddings a year. Visitors to the course and facilities have been as wide ranging as the sultan of Brunei to New Zealand’s Prime Minister and Governor General.
On the course itself some challenging renovations have been made to keep the course at the standard the club’s forefathers would be proud. These include adding lakes at the sixth and seventh holes, adding lots of new mounding to Russley’s otherwise flat terrain and enlarging the greens.
The course is 18 holes with 4 sets of tees – blue (championship), white, yellow and red. Russley is a parklands course lined with pines, oaks and many other beautiful trees. Bird life includes ducks, Canadian geese and swifts.
On the water holes at number 6 and 7 you will find the water lovely and challenging.
The secret to a great score at Russley is to drive straight and true, as the motto “Medio Tutissimus Ibis” advises.
