The Cresswell Cup & Trophy Richards Trophy inter-district matches were played at Burnham Golf Club yesterday in cool, fine conditions and the course in great order.
The Cresswell Cup match was between Clearwater (Winner of Metropolitan A) and Scargill (Winner of North Templeton Cup) with the teams being unable to be separated at the end of 18 holes finishing 4 all, with five of the eight matches going to the final hole. It then came down to a sudden death play-off between Clearwater’s Mike Frisby and Scargill’s Mike Godinet, who holed-out from 50 metres to give Scargill the win.
The Toby Richards Trophy between Russley (Winner of Metropolitan B) and Tai Tapu (Winner of Central Patterson Cup) was also a closely fought affair with the final result coming down to the last putt to take the match to another play-off, but unfortunately for Tai Tapu it came up an inch short and Russley prevailed to win 4.5-3.5.
