Welcome to Bottle Lake Golf Club (formally known as Windsor Golf Club), situated at 115 Waitikiri Drive beside rural land and Bottle Lake Forest. The course is built around Bottle Lake. Once a large lake this has over the years became overgrown with trees and provides a wetland habitat for a large variety of birdlife most notably the Pukeko which are frequently seen on the fairways and surrounds. The “swamp” as it is so warmly referred to is also never far from the golfers attention as it provides a water hazard on some of the holes and claims many a wayward ball. Visitors are welcome at the Charteris Bay Golf Club, which is situated on the South side of the Lyttelton Harbour Basin, some 27 km. from central Christchurch, on the main road to Diamond Harbour via Governor's Bay. The Club is set in the scenic Orton Bradley Park, renowned for its sea views, imposing volcanic landscape and peaceful atmosphere. Although the course is at present a nine-hole one, different tees are used to make the second nine a different challenge. Much of the course is easy walking but there are one or two climbs where the views are breathtaking, too. A deep gully and a winding stream contribute to the appeal and challenges offered by a round here. The Clubhouse retains its historic charm and is available for hire. When it is open, visitors are welcome there.
Visitors are always welcome at Cheviot Golf Club. The course is situated five minutes west of Cheviot township. It is 90 minutes (120km) north of Christchurch or 55 minutes (55km) south of Kaikoura off State Highway 1. This unique 12-hole course is set on flat land with views to the Kaikoura Mountains. It is beautifully landscaped, with many trees and a small stream running through it, which comes into play on several holes. The clubhouse can be hired for groups or promotional activities. The Ellesmere Golf club is an 18 hole par 72 golf course, 3 kilometres south of Leeston township. The course has a extensive irrigation system which allows the fairways and greens to be well maintained for excellent golf all year round. The club welcomes all affiliated golf members and fee paying golfers and members can be seen playing on the course most days of the week. Visitors will find that they are able to play on most days although there will be some restrictions on club days.
The Everglades Country Golf Club is a 9-Hole course stablished in 1967 and is located 20 minutes north of central Christchurch. The course is bordered by the Kaputone stream on two sides of the course and is a straight forward layout. The challenge is to negotiate the tree lined fairways and relatively small greens. The club operates a full winter and summer programme of competitive and social golf for both men and women. Playing groups are varied weekly to encourage getting to know fellow members in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. All club days are run as a shotgun start to allow for a collective finish after play. Greendale is an eighteen hole country course with excellent facilities just 40 km from Christchurch and 15 minutes from Rolleston. Accessible and signposted from both Main South Road and Main West Coast Rd. Green fee players are encouraged with tee times readily available every day. The Hawarden Golf Course is located in the Hurunui region of North Canterbury beside the village of Hawarden, surrounded by farmland and mountains. The course is placed at two levels separated by a stream, and the fairways are lined by a variety of trees, both features adding their own attractions and challenges. Visitors are always impressed by the layout of the course and the condition of the greens and fairways which are tended expertly by our greenkeeper and volunteer club members. The course is generally open to green fee players and booking is not required, although on tournament days the course is not available.
This golf course is a real hidden Gem! The Hororata Golf Club’s 18 hole course is situated in the small rural town of Glentunnel, some 35 minutes West of Christchurch. The course is set across river terraces of the Selwyn River. From the white tees it measures 5617 metres and from the yellow tees it measures 5005 metres for a Par 71. There are picturesque plantings of strategically placed trees and a creek bisects 6 holes. Target greens test the accuracy of even the best golfer and the hole lengths make for a pleasant experience for those less proficient.
Kaituna is a 9 hole course located on Kaitorete Spit, 48km south of Christchurch off the main Akaroa highway (only 20 minutes from Halswell.) The course is open all year round. The course has a firm base with tussock and grass on the top. There are a few trees on the course but the rough can be tough to get out of! It is a fun course and is currently in the best shape it has been for many years. New irrigation system is in progress for greens. The course remains in a playable condition all year round because of the free-draining base layer, so in winter when you can't get out on your own course come and see us at Kaituna.
The McLeans Island Golf Club, located opposite the Orana Park Wildlife Reserve and next to the mountain bike and walking tracks, is a place of tranquility, not too far from the city, but far enough away to say you are in the country. Rawhiti Golf Club is located in the seaside suburb of New Brighton. The 18 holes with a distance of 5400m is Par 70 for men and 73 for ladies. The straight tree lined fairways can look deceptively simple but offer a challenge to golfers of all abilities. The well turfed (and drained) rolling green fairways ensure pleasant playing conditions all year round.
