Representatives from the vast majority of Canterbury Golf clubs were in attendance in the ever-popular annual Presidents, Secretaries & Captains Day at Clearwater this Monday.
In all, there was a massive 115 players in the field which included 34 club Captains (17 pairs), 23 Presidents, and 21 Secretaries/Club Managers all taking part as well as the many invited guests from our key partners including the likes of the Canterbury Referees, Eagles and sub-committees.
Further from all those participants, 25 clubs across Canterbury were represented on the day which provides a fantastic opportunity for those important people within clubs an opportunity to mix, mingle, and connect with their counterparts in other clubs and celebrate our shared passion for the game of golf and the work that the clubs do.
In delivering the day it also provides Canterbury Golf the opportunity to highlight the great work all these people do for the Canterbury Golf community and thank them for that.
At the start of this year’s event, Canterbury Golf organised for Golf NZ Board Member Tenille Burnside to come and speak to the room. Tenille works for Gibson Sheat who have recently produced the new club constitution templates with Golf NZ following the changes to the Incorporated Society Act, as such she was able to speak to these changes and answers questions from the clubs around this.
On the course, there was a mix of scoring but plenty of fun was had on a challenging but as ever high-quality track at Clearwater. Rosco Pamment (Lincoln) took out the President’s title with his 36 Stableford points while Rica Larkin (Burnham) took out the Secretaries’ title with a score of 34.

The Men’s Captains prize went to Andrew Kenworthy (Hororata) and the Women’s Captains top award went to Denise Burt (Burnham.) The Captain’s pairs trophy meanwhile went to the Burnham pairing of Calvin Witika and Denise Burt with their combined score of 63.

Finally, in the team competition which sees the group’s best 3 of 4 Stableford scores used, this was claimed by the group of Denise Burt (Burnham), Warwick Neutze (Akaroa), Robin Tiffen (Akaroa), and Calvin Witika (Burnham) with a score of 109.
A big thank you to Clearwater Golf Club for their great hosting of the event which I’m sure will leave many looking forward to the 2026 edition.
