All is set for the 2025 edition of the Canterbury 4BBB Championship. The 2025 venue of Terrace Downs has sparked great interest amongst interested players with a total of 162 players or 81 pairs needing to be whittled down to the 108, 54 pair field.
Within the entries there are notable pairs across the Men’s & Women’s divisions with some impressive combined-handicap indexes highlighting a quality field set to compete. In the men’s the top seeds consist of Canterbury Reps and Golf NZ National Academy members Cooper Moore and Yuki Miya, who both come in of the back of recent success with Moore’s Junior Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship title and Miya’s NextGen Amateur title, if both players fire and combine, they could be hard to stop.
However, they will be tested by a large number of other more than capable pairs. The representative combo of Sam McGill and Mike Toeke more than have the games to claim top spot with both capable of going very low, no doubt many will be keeping an eye out for those two characters when it comes time to tally the final totals.
Beyond that there are several other quality pairs such as Sam Harris and 2023 NZ National Champion Seb May, recent Canterbury representatives Cam Grant and Tim Leonard as well as defending champions and youngsters Alfie Bell and Mitchell Redmayne who will be looking to give a defense of the title they won last year at Coringa a big push.

In the women’s division, it really is anyone’s game! The top 5 seeds see the likes of Zaria Bourne and Lannie Innoue combine, who played 1 and 4 respectively for Canterbury at December’s NZ Interprovincial tournament.
They will likely be pushed by the pairing of Aroha Minhinnick and Alsia Ren who have good experience and will be looking to bounce of each other for a competitive score. Some of the “young gun” pairs include the likes of Junie Chang and Eva Yin as well as Alice Fry and Vanessa Lim, all members of the Canterbury Golf TDP and would be no surprise to see them storm through for the title.
Finally, the defending champions of Rachel Eder and Lexi Thomson-Hall cannot be written off as they will be keen to go back-to-back following their success in 2024.
Over $3000 worth of Gross and Net prizes will be on offer plus NTP and Longest Drive prizes so plenty to play for the 54 pairs in action.
Play starts from 10am with a two-tee start, see the full draw – HERE.
